The Highlanders family celebrated the auspicious festival of Diwali at the team hotel on Tuesday with vibes of togetherness and team spirit.
The occasion was made special as leading Guwahati based apparel brand 'Sahanaiii' dressed the team in beguiling blue Kurtas.
The players then proceeded to the patio for a bright display of fireworks. The skies lit up with the barrage of illuminating fireworks and the occasion truly imbibed the spirit of Diwali with a multitude of pyros being lit by the players and coaching staff. Few players also released sky lanterns as they sailed away with the lights forming a magical spectacle under the dark sky.
Speaking to the club regarding the eventful evening, Jose Leudo said, "Diwali is a very traditional festival here and it was nice to be part of it. It was a very nice experience and the occasion was beautiful and the clothes were very comfortable!"
Federico Gallego also added, "It really was a wonderful experience, we lived a very beautiful night with the team, where I got to know a little more about the culture of this beautiful country. As for the clothes, it was very interesting because I had never used anything similar, I'm looking for some clothes to take to Uruguay."
It was great, I felt at home because Ghana also has similar dress. India has a great culture and we should do our best to respect and protect it. The people here are great, the hospitality has been amazing. Overall, India is a very nice place to be!", Augustine Okrah added.
The ethnic dress from Sahanaiii, the effulgent fireworks followed by a sumptuous gala dinner gave the players and coaching staffs a truly cherished evening for the Highlander family.
On this occasion, we would like to express our gratitude to our hospitality partner the Radisson Blu Guwahati and ethnic wear partner Sahanaiii for making this a truly memorable event for everyone.
